people power ~ Blair Mountain March day 5

A few days ago someone blocked the public access road to the Blair Mountain Battle Field with boulders that were clearly brought from a mine site.  This would prevent the march from using this state road turnout off the highway as a pick up and drop off spot for Marchers who intended to walk up the Public Road to the historic site.   A small group of marchers took the initiative to move those boulders with their bare hands.   They opened up the road while jeering miners, private security and state police looked on.  The action had been cleared by the Dept of Tr

MBN Independent Media Saboteur

It was NOT actually Bug Spray.   A counter protester tries to sabotage the generator being used by independent media at the first campsite of the march.  Several independent reports from those on the scene said it smelled like Starter Fluid.   Irregardless, the best thing that could have happened if I had allowed this man to continue would have been the destruction of the generator.  The worst thing that could have happened is that he blew up himself, the generator, gas can, and potentially the Media Bus full of people and equipment.

Union Miners Support the March on Blair Mountain

A little bit of Union History, morals & ethics in regard to the Blair Mountain Historic Battle Field; the site of the largest Armed insurrection in the United States since the Civil War.  10,000 union miners engaged in armed conflict with coal company thugs and the US Military over the Unionization of the coal mines in 1921.

Kindra's Window ~ full movie

This film follows the lives of Kindra Arnesen and family from Hurricane Katrina through the BP Oil Disaster from their perspective in Venice Louisianan; first land fall of Katrina and closest populated land mass to the Deep Water Horizon site.

Gulf Coast Disasters, long removed from the news cycle, are eating away at the livelihoods and patriotism of those left behind to deal with the front lines of the environmental and economic terrorism that is the legacy of our government.

Gulf Coast Restoration Task Force Concentrate - NOLA

On February 28th the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Task Force held public meeting for about 12 hours.  The initial hours were all about government presentations about various aspects of the ecosystem and constant reminders that this process was and will be a bottom up process with the people who are affected and the people who are doing the work steering the cart of recovery.

Most of the people speaking here are representing one of the multitude of non profit organizations that are and have been working on gulf coast restoration for years.

United for the Gulf Fest ~ Senator A.G. Crow & Cherri Foytlin

This was a free concert for all fishermen (recreational and commercial), oil workers, clean up workers, concerned citizens, activists and leaders.

In addition, the first ever Gulf Coast Clean Air and Clean Water Awards were given to individuals and groups who have answered the call to stewardship on behalf of our area, ecosystem and people.

Senator Crow explains how our government is now run by corporations and Cherri announces her walk to DC.
