War on Journalism

MBN Independent Media Saboteur

It was NOT actually Bug Spray.   A counter protester tries to sabotage the generator being used by independent media at the first campsite of the march.  Several independent reports from those on the scene said it smelled like Starter Fluid.   Irregardless, the best thing that could have happened if I had allowed this man to continue would have been the destruction of the generator.  The worst thing that could have happened is that he blew up himself, the generator, gas can, and potentially the Media Bus full of people and equipment.

MTR Arrest Report Back

opednews.com  Massey Morgan Rd Julian, WV 6AM ish 9-9-09
I was filming a Chain & Tube Lock Down Blockade of the road which leads to Massey Energy Regional Headquarters as the first workers of the day arrived. I was wearing my Press Pass prominently around my neck. The road was an intersection off of a 4 lane road with a 65 mph speed limit and the blockade was about 40-50 yards from the intersection. The road appeared to continue for approximately 1/4 mile. There is nothing at this intersection that marks it any differently than any other road intersecting this 4 lane roadway. This part of West Virginia often has severe fog problems, but not this morning. I interviewed the participants and waited for the cops to show up. The cops arrived quickly. I positioned myself about 30-40 feet from the lock-down and waited for the police interaction with the protesters. Deputy Eric Eversole appeared to be first on the scene. He briefly surveyed the situation at the lock-down and then abruptly turned walking quickly toward me and said:

"Turn your camera off. You're under arrest for trespassing."

Evil is Real: Rights are No Consideration

The saga of the NOmadjik Media Bus at the Republican National Convention played out among context that will sadden anyone who believes in freedom and democracy.  The RNC in St. Paul was an exercise in intimidation, harassment and preemptive arrest of JOURNALISTS.

Get That Camera!

I was attacked by the New York Police Department, who broke my camera AND stole it... as well as my footage.  Fortunately it was a a protest for justice for a murdered video journalist friend and every videographer worth a shit in NYC was out that day.

This video has been featured on the Documentary Channel and several Film Fests.

New Orleans Returns to Eviction as Usual

Eviction is the word of the day in New Orleans. Many landlords have taken to throwing tenants personal belonings on the sidewalk after an eviction notice has been tacked on their door for 5 days. Under normal conditions 5 days seems a little harsh if there is a lease involved; but in post Katrina New Orleans 5 days don't mean shit.
